What's Happening?
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has entered into a franchise agreement with Worldwide Hotels, Singapore's largest home-grown hotel group, to launch Days Inn by Wyndham Singapore Novena. The property, currently known as Value Hotel Thomson, will undergo rebranding and renovations starting late in the second quarter of 2026, with a reopening scheduled for August 2026. The hotel will feature 362 rooms, a swimming pool, fitness areas, and an all-day dining restaurant. Located along Balestier Road, it is strategically positioned near Novena MRT station, a short drive from the Central Business District, and approximately 30 minutes from Changi International Airport. The partnership aims to leverage Wyndham's international reach and Worldwide Hotels' local expertise, enhancing Wyndham's portfolio in Singapore, which already includes Wyndham Singapore Hotel and Hotel Traveltine Downtown Singapore, Trademark Collection by Wyndham.
Why It's Important?
The opening of Days Inn Singapore Novena is significant as it targets a diverse range of travelers, including leisure, business, and medical tourists. The hotel's proximity to major medical facilities makes it particularly appealing to medical tourists, a growing segment in the travel industry. This move reinforces Worldwide Hotels' commitment to providing 'Hospitality that matters, Stay better,' while expanding its global reach. The partnership also strengthens Wyndham's presence in Singapore, contributing to its strategy of combining international reach with local expertise. With Wyndham Rewards boasting around 120 million members worldwide, the new hotel is poised to attract a substantial number of guests, boosting the local economy and tourism sector.
What's Next?
The rebranding and renovation of the property are set to begin in late 2026, with the reopening planned for August 2026. As the hotel prepares to cater to medical tourists, leisure, and corporate travelers, it is expected to enhance its facilities and services to meet the diverse needs of its guests. The strategic location near medical facilities and transport links will likely attract significant interest from international travelers, particularly from China, India, and Southeast Asia. The collaboration between Wyndham and Worldwide Hotels may lead to further expansion opportunities in the region, potentially increasing the number of properties under the Wyndham brand.
Beyond the Headlines
The development of Days Inn Singapore Novena highlights the growing trend of medical tourism, which is becoming an important aspect of the hospitality industry. As healthcare costs rise globally, more travelers are seeking affordable medical services abroad, and Singapore is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend due to its advanced medical facilities and reputation for high-quality care. The partnership between Wyndham and Worldwide Hotels may also set a precedent for similar collaborations in other regions, as hotel groups seek to expand their portfolios by tapping into niche markets like medical tourism.
