What's Happening?
Cvent, a leading provider of meetings, events, and hospitality technology, has partnered with BeCause, a sustainability data hub for the travel and tourism industry, to integrate verified sustainability information into the Cvent Supplier Network (CSN). This integration allows hotels to automatically incorporate sustainability data from BeCause’s extensive database, which includes over 2 million data points across 10,000 metrics, into their CSN profiles. The initiative addresses the growing demand from event planners for accessible sustainability data when sourcing and booking venues. Currently, more than 12,000 hotels and venues are sharing sustainability data through this integration. The collaboration aims to streamline the process for hotels to provide verified sustainability information, enhancing their visibility and competitiveness in the group business market.
Why It's Important?
The integration of sustainability data into the Cvent Supplier Network is significant as it reflects the increasing importance of environmental responsibility in corporate and event strategies. As organizations demand greater transparency from their supply chains, including meetings and events, hotels are under pressure to provide detailed sustainability information. This partnership allows hotels to meet these demands efficiently, improving their chances of securing group business. For event planners, having easy access to verified sustainability data simplifies the decision-making process, enabling them to prioritize venues that align with their environmental goals. This development is likely to influence industry standards, encouraging more hotels to adopt sustainable practices and report their efforts transparently.
What's Next?
Cvent and BeCause plan to further expand their collaboration by automating the publication of hotel sustainability data into the Cvent requests for proposals (RFP) process. This advancement will help hotel sales teams quickly address extensive RFP sustainability questions, reducing friction for event planners during the sourcing process. As the demand for sustainability data continues to grow, this integration could lead to broader adoption of similar practices across the industry, potentially setting new benchmarks for sustainability reporting in the hospitality sector.
Beyond the Headlines
The integration of sustainability data into event planning platforms like Cvent highlights a broader shift towards environmental accountability in the hospitality industry. This move not only benefits hotels and event planners but also contributes to global efforts to promote sustainable tourism. By making sustainability data more accessible, the partnership encourages hotels to adopt eco-friendly practices, which can lead to long-term positive impacts on the environment. Additionally, this trend may inspire other sectors to prioritize sustainability in their operations, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility across industries.
