A 49-year-old man, Kimani Osayande Jones, was arrested at Sacramento International Airport after attempting to board a flight with a homemade explosive device and other suspicious items. TSA agents discovered a knife, bladed weapons, zip ties, a butane
torch lighter, and five cellphones in his carry-on bag. One of the phones had a 15-minute timer, and another displayed an ominous message. Jones, who was wearing a scarf and latex gloves, claimed ignorance of the items in his bag and refused to be interviewed by authorities. He was charged with unlawfully possessing explosive material in an airport and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
