BioMed X, a German innovation hub, has partnered with the Government of Barbados to launch a research project aimed at improving AI-based modeling for early diabetic kidney disease. Supported by the European
Union's PharmaNext Programme, the initiative seeks to address the biological heterogeneity of the disease in the Barbadian population. The project involves deep molecular profiling and AI-driven modeling to create a digital African twin model, which will aid in patient stratification and biomarker discovery. This collaboration marks a significant step in using AI to tackle population-specific health challenges, with the goal of developing personalized treatment strategies for diabetic kidney disease.
