What's Happening?
The Alabama Department of Workforce has been awarded a federal grant of $11,751,607.34 through the Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization (AMLER) Program. This funding is designated for two major
redevelopment projects in Hoover, Alabama: Broad Metro’s Stadium Trace Village Phase 2 Project and Signature Homes’ I-459 Exit 9 Parkway Extension. These initiatives aim to address environmental hazards, enhance public safety, and stimulate economic growth in communities affected by coal mining. The projects are expected to create hundreds of construction and permanent jobs, while transforming underutilized land into valuable community resources. The Stadium Trace Village project will develop 121 acres into a mixed-use area featuring a surgical plaza, hotel, retail spaces, and green areas.
