Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) has announced expanded bill assistance and temporary relief measures for its residential customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. This initiative comes in response to prolonged periods of extreme heat,
including weeks of triple-digit temperatures, which have led to significantly higher energy consumption and electric bills for many households. Paul Pratt, VP Customer Experience and New Business Development, stated that these measures are designed to help existing residential customers manage increased costs and maintain current accounts. Effective immediately and through the end of October, SWEPCO will pause required deposits for existing residential accounts and waive late payment fees for eligible residential customers. Additionally, the company is expanding access to its Average Monthly Payment (AMP) program, which allows more customers to qualify for predictable monthly payments, helping to smooth out seasonal fluctuations in energy costs.
