What's Happening?
Thyme Care, a value-based cancer care navigation company, has expanded its cancer survivorship program, Next Chapter Care, to provide comprehensive support beyond active treatment. The program offers personalized,
longitudinal care through a multidisciplinary model, including oncology-trained professionals. It addresses the ongoing medical and mental health needs of cancer survivors, who often face long-term side effects and behavioral health challenges post-treatment. The expansion includes dedicated nurse practitioner-led visits, emotional support, lifestyle modification guidance, and connection to peer support groups. Thyme Care aims to improve patient health and reduce cancer care costs by partnering with health plans and providers.
Why It's Important?
The expansion of Thyme Care’s survivorship program is crucial as the number of cancer survivors in the U.S. continues to grow, projected to exceed 22 million by 2035. Many survivors struggle with long-term health issues, highlighting the need for ongoing support. Thyme Care’s approach integrates survivorship into the continuum of care, ensuring patients receive consistent support throughout their cancer journey. This model not only enhances patient outcomes but also addresses the economic burden of cancer care by reducing costs through coordinated care. The program’s success could influence healthcare providers to adopt similar models, improving survivorship care nationwide.
