Taiwan Implements Online Arrival Card System for Foreign Nationals

What's Happening?

Starting October 1, Taiwan will require travelers to complete their Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) online before arriving, replacing the traditional paper arrival cards. This policy change, announced in June, affects foreign nationals entering Taiwan with a visitor visa or under the visa-exemption program, as well as Hong Kong and Macao residents with multiple-entry permits, Chinese nationals with tourism permits, and Taiwanese citizens without household registration or residence certificates. The National Immigration Agency mandates that travelers complete the online TWAC up to three days before arrival to clear immigration. The system will automatically retrieve TWAC data when an immigration officer scans the passport, eliminating the need for travelers to present additional information.
