Taiwan has inaugurated a new cloud computing center in Tainan, equipped with a powerful supercomputer, as part of its 'sovereign AI' initiative. The facility, featuring the 'Nano 4' supercomputer, is designed to be a hub for artificial intelligence development
and innovation in high-performance computing, telecommunications, cloud services, and digital content. Taiwan President Lai Ching-te emphasized the center's role in transitioning Taiwan from a major hardware manufacturer to an 'AI island.' The supercomputer is equipped with 1,760 Nvidia H200 chips and 144 Blackwell chips, underscoring Taiwan's capabilities in system integration and high-performance computing. This development is part of Taiwan's 'Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects' initiative, aimed at bolstering the island's AI capabilities.
