What's Happening?
The Coalition for America’s Gateways and Trade Corridors (CAGTC) is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026. Since its inception in 2001, CAGTC has been instrumental in advocating for the recognition and strengthening of the United States' multimodal
freight network through federal policy improvements and strategic investments. The coalition has successfully united public and private sector partners to secure investments in freight infrastructure, elevating goods movement as a national priority. As the expiration of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) approaches, CAGTC is preparing for the next surface transportation reauthorization legislation. The coalition plans to continue its engagement with Congress and the Administration to build on the successes of the IIJA and maximize investments in multimodal supply chain infrastructure.
Why It's Important?
CAGTC's advocacy has played a crucial role in transforming how freight infrastructure is understood and invested in across the United States. By securing dedicated freight programs and elevating the importance of goods movement, the coalition has contributed to national economic competitiveness and supply chain efficiency. As the nation faces evolving challenges in freight infrastructure, CAGTC's continued efforts are vital to ensuring that freight remains a priority in national policy discussions. The coalition's work supports the preparedness of the U.S. supply chain to meet future demands, which is essential for maintaining economic stability and growth.
What's Next?
To commemorate its silver anniversary, CAGTC will launch a year-long 'Voices of Freight' 25th Anniversary Speaker Series featuring national industry experts. This series will address topics such as federal funding programs, emerging technologies, and best practices in project planning. Additionally, CAGTC will host a special in-person 25th Anniversary Celebration in Washington, DC, on April 22, 2026. This event will bring together freight industry leaders to reflect on the coalition's history and set the stage for future advocacy efforts. CAGTC's ongoing initiatives will focus on ensuring that freight infrastructure continues to receive the attention and investment necessary to support the nation's economic and supply chain needs.
