What's Happening?
The GrowHer program, a collaboration between CQUniversity’s Agri-tech Education and Extension team and AgriBusiness Connect, is inviting applications for its 2026 initiative. The program targets female students in Years 7-12 from regional Queensland,
offering them opportunities to explore careers in agriculture and AgTech. Participants will engage in hands-on learning, industry mentorship, and teamwork to develop AgTech solutions for real-world challenges. The initiative aims to inspire young women to pursue leadership roles in the agricultural sector, highlighting the importance of innovation and technology in modern agriculture.
Why It's Important?
The GrowHer program addresses the gender gap in the agricultural sector by encouraging young women to explore careers in AgTech. As digital transformation reshapes agriculture, there is a growing demand for technology-related roles. The program equips participants with practical skills and industry connections, preparing them for future careers in a sector poised for significant technological advancements. By fostering interest in AgTech among young women, the program contributes to a more diverse and innovative agricultural workforce, essential for meeting future food production challenges.
What's Next?
Applications for the 2026 GrowHer program are open until April 24. Successful participants will have the opportunity to attend a Queensland innovation event, where they can further develop their ideas and expand their professional networks. The program's focus on innovation and technology aligns with forecasts that predict significant changes in agricultural job roles by 2029, emphasizing the need for a skilled and diverse workforce to drive future growth in the sector.
