Stena Line, a major European ferry operator, is advancing its fleet modernization by ordering a new series of larger Ro-Ro vessels. The company has signed a letter of intent with China Merchant Industries
for up to six new cargo Ro-Ros, expanding on its existing designs. The new vessels, named C-Flexer, will have a capacity of 3,000 to 4,700 lane meters and will feature a highly efficient hull form, engines ready for future fuels, and an expandable hybrid battery design. The first of these new vessels, the Stena Connecta, was recently named in China and is set to enter service in January 2026, increasing capacity on the Irish Sea route by 40%.
