What's Happening?
Comba Telecom, a provider of wireless communication solutions, has partnered with SICOTEL Communications (SCOMM), a Moroccan telecom and ICT solutions integrator, to improve indoor wireless coverage across Morocco. This collaboration was formalized through
a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed during the GITEX Africa 2026 event in Marrakech. The partnership aims to develop and implement advanced in-building solutions (IBS) to meet the increasing demand for seamless indoor wireless connectivity in commercial, industrial, and public venues. As Morocco targets over 25% 5G coverage by the end of 2026, this initiative is crucial for supporting the country's ambitious 5G rollout plans. Comba will contribute its ComFlex MAX solution, known for its flexibility and scalability, while SCOMM will leverage its local market expertise and deployment capabilities.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is significant as it addresses the growing need for reliable indoor wireless coverage, which is essential for the successful deployment of 5G technology. By enhancing indoor connectivity, the collaboration supports Morocco's digital infrastructure goals and aligns with global sustainability efforts through reduced power consumption. The initiative is expected to benefit various sectors, including retail, hospitality, and transportation, by providing high-density connectivity in venues such as shopping malls, hotels, airports, and stadiums. This development could also stimulate economic growth by attracting more businesses and investments to Morocco, thereby enhancing the country's position as a leader in digital transformation in the region.
What's Next?
The partnership will focus on identifying new project opportunities for in-building solutions across Morocco. Comba and SCOMM plan to deploy Comba's passive and active distributed antenna systems (DAS), including the ComFlex MAX solution, and engage in joint marketing initiatives to promote these solutions to Moroccan operators and enterprises. As the country progresses towards its 5G coverage goals, the collaboration is expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring that the necessary infrastructure is in place to support this technological advancement.
