Mercedes-Benz has commenced production of electric drive units for its all-new, fully electric GLC SUV at the Star Assembly plant in Sebeș, Romania. This facility, a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, is now
integrated into the company's global electric powertrain network, supplying components to vehicle plants in Bremen, Germany, and Kecskemét, Hungary. Jörg Burzer, a board member responsible for production, quality, and supply chain management, emphasized the significance of this milestone in transforming the plant and strengthening its role in the global production network. The new production line spans 15,000 square meters and includes over 200 manual and automated processes, operated by retrained staff from the existing workforce.
