What's Happening?
Texas A&M University is set to establish the Autonomous Robotic Metallurgist Materials Innovation Platform (ARM-MIP) with a $24.9 million grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation. This facility, located at the RELLIS Campus in Bryan, Texas, will
be a national user facility where robots and artificial intelligence will handle the repetitive tasks of alloy discovery. The platform aims to accelerate the development of new alloys by minimizing manual labor, allowing scientists to focus on innovation. ARM-MIP will be open to researchers nationwide, providing access to cutting-edge capabilities and fostering collaboration across the U.S. The facility is expected to process over 200 alloys per month by its sixth year, significantly enhancing the speed and efficiency of materials research.

The facility plans to build a consortium of industrial and national laboratory members to guide research directions and sustain operations beyond the initial NSF grant.
