A massive explosion at an illegal fireworks manufacturing unit in Kakinada district, Andhra Pradesh, resulted in the deaths of at least 21 workers and injured several others. The incident occurred at Surya Sri Fireworks, located in an isolated area between
Vetlapalem and G. Medapadu. Eyewitnesses reported a powerful initial blast followed by multiple secondary explosions, which sent thick smoke across nearby villages. The facility employed around 25 to 30 workers daily, most of whom were women. Emergency responders faced challenges accessing the site due to its remote location. The injured were transported to local hospitals, with six victims receiving treatment at Kakinada Government General Hospital.
