The Northern Territory Government has launched a new Visitor Economy Strategy 2032 through its newly formed entity, Tourism and Events Northern Territory. The strategy aims to grow visitor spending from
$1.5 billion to $2.2 billion and increase overnight trips from 1.2 million to 1.5 million by 2032. The plan includes enhancing infrastructure investment, improving connectivity, investing in workforce development, and expanding experience and product offerings. The strategy reflects extensive consultation with over 350 stakeholders and is informed by national and global research. The Northern Territory's visitor economy has already shown strong growth, with a 19% increase in total visitors and a 13% growth in visitor expenditure.
