What's Happening?
Volz Servos has unveiled the DA 26-D actuator, a fully redundant design aimed at applications demanding high reliability. The actuator features a dual-channel configuration, allowing it to maintain operation
even if one channel fails. This design is particularly suited for critical control systems in uncrewed and aerospace platforms. The actuator includes redundant electric motors, control and communication electronics, and power supply circuits. A three-channel position sensing system enhances positional accuracy and fault tolerance through a two-out-of-three voting principle. Integrated monitoring functions track supply voltage, current consumption, and internal temperature, with diagnostic data accessible via a redundant RS-485 communication interface.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of the DA 26-D actuator is significant for industries relying on uncrewed and aerospace platforms, where reliability and fault resilience are crucial. This technology ensures continuous operation, reducing the risk of system failures that could lead to costly downtimes or safety hazards. The aerospace sector, in particular, benefits from such advancements as they enhance the safety and efficiency of operations. Companies involved in the development and deployment of unmanned systems stand to gain from integrating such reliable components, potentially leading to increased trust and adoption of these technologies.
