What's Happening?
Cheshire Archives staff have been cataloguing over 40,000 slides, including glass negatives and 35mm slides, in preparation for the opening of two new archive centres in Crewe and Hoole. These slides document
various aspects of life in Cheshire over the past century, offering a unique glimpse into the region's history. The cataloguing process is a significant organizational effort, aimed at preserving these historical records for future generations.
Why It's Important?
The cataloguing of these slides is crucial for preserving the cultural and historical heritage of Cheshire. By organizing and storing these images, the archives ensure that valuable historical information is accessible to researchers, historians, and the public. This initiative highlights the importance of archival work in maintaining a connection to the past, which can inform and enrich contemporary understanding of regional history.
