What's Happening?
Genevieve Harper has been appointed as the executive director of the Tuscarora Managed Care Alliance, overseeing behavioral health services for Medicaid recipients in Franklin and Fulton counties. Harper, who has been with the alliance since 2016, previously
served as a quality specialist and later as the quality and compliance director. She became interim executive director in March following the retirement of Melissa Wileman. Harper's new role involves leading the administration of the HealthChoices program, which coordinates mental health and substance use services for nearly 40,000 Medicaid managed-care members. Her extensive background includes roles with The ARC of Washington County Inc., Keystone Human Services Inc., and Fulton County Family Partnership, as well as advocacy and teaching positions related to autism.
Why It's Important?
Harper's appointment is significant as it ensures continuity and experienced leadership in managing behavioral health services for a large Medicaid population. Her leadership is expected to enhance the quality and compliance of services provided to nearly 40,000 individuals, potentially improving health outcomes and service delivery. This change in leadership could also influence policy and operational strategies within the alliance, impacting how mental health and substance use services are administered in the region. Stakeholders, including patients and healthcare providers, may benefit from Harper's expertise and commitment to quality improvement.
What's Next?
As Harper assumes her new role, she is expected to build strong partnerships across county departments and community agencies. Her focus will likely be on leveraging the expertise of her team to achieve successful outcomes in behavioral health services. The transition may involve strategic planning and potential policy adjustments to address the needs of the Medicaid population effectively. Stakeholders will be watching closely to see how Harper's leadership influences the alliance's operations and service delivery.
