What's Happening?
Chicago Public School culinary students have joined pastry chef Robyn Johnson at the Drake Hotel to contribute to its century-old gingerbread display tradition. Students from North-Grand High School and Roosevelt
High School worked alongside Johnson to add final touches to the display, which includes gingerbread cookies shaped like holiday symbols. This initiative is part of the Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP), providing students with practical culinary skills and experience.
Why It's Important?
The collaboration offers students valuable hands-on experience in a professional setting, enhancing their culinary education and career prospects. Programs like C-CAP play a crucial role in equipping students with skills that can lead to successful careers in the culinary arts. Additionally, such initiatives foster community engagement and preserve cultural traditions, contributing to the local economy and tourism.
