What's Happening?
OhioHealth has introduced a new visitor management process requiring all visitors aged 18 and older to show identification at its hospitals. This measure aims to enhance security and reduce workplace violence
by ensuring that all visitors have a valid purpose for being on the premises. The policy has been implemented at several OhioHealth hospitals, including Riverside Methodist Hospital and Grant Medical Center. Cassie Lambert, project lead of Visitor Management at OhioHealth, stated that the safety of patients, associates, and visitors is a top priority.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of ID checks at OhioHealth hospitals reflects a growing trend in healthcare facilities to prioritize security and safety. By verifying visitor identities, hospitals can better control access and prevent incidents of violence or unauthorized entry. This initiative may serve as a model for other healthcare institutions seeking to enhance their security protocols. It also highlights the balance between maintaining an open, welcoming environment and ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
