What's Happening?
Andrew Stark, Global Managing Director of Flight Centre, along with Craig Davidson, CEO of Tourism and Events Queensland, and Natassia Wheeler, CEO of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, are set to participate in the St Vincent De Paul CEO Sleepout
in Brisbane. This event, scheduled for June 18, 2026, aims to raise funds and awareness for Australians experiencing homelessness. Stark, who has been involved in the event for four years, has raised nearly $70,000 for the cause. The sleepout provides participants with a firsthand experience of sleeping rough, fostering empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by the homeless population.
Why It's Important?
The participation of prominent industry leaders in the CEO Sleepout highlights the role of corporate responsibility in addressing social issues like homelessness. By engaging in such initiatives, these leaders not only raise crucial funds but also bring attention to the plight of those without stable housing. This involvement can inspire other businesses and individuals to contribute to similar causes, potentially leading to increased support and resources for homelessness services. Moreover, the event underscores the interconnectedness of the tourism industry with local communities, emphasizing the importance of supporting vulnerable populations.
