APM Terminals, a subsidiary of Maersk, has announced its acquisition of a 37.5% stake in the Southern Container Terminal (SCT) at Jeddah Islamic Port, operated by DP World. This strategic move marks APM Terminals' first presence in the Red Sea region

The acquisition comes a year after DP World completed an $800 million modernization of the terminal, which doubled its capacity to 4 million TEUs and set the stage for future expansion to 5 million TEUs.
