Jamaican telecommunications operator Flow has launched the country's first commercial 5G network, providing coverage to approximately 70% of the population. The rollout was supported by a US$74 million investment from parent company Liberty Latin America
(LLA), which included US$50 million for network equipment and systems and US$24 million for spectrum licenses. The launch is seen as a significant step in Jamaica's digital transformation, with Minister of Energy, Transport and Telecommunications, Daryl Vaz, describing it as a 'national development moment.' The deployment is part of LLA's broader strategy to expand its 5G footprint across the Caribbean and Latin America.
