South Korea's National Human Resources Development Institute has launched a two-week smart city capacity-building training program for senior Saudi civil servants. This initiative, requested by Saudi Arabia's Misk Foundation, aims to share South Korea's experience
in designing and operating intelligent city policies. The program targets nine director-general level officials from seven Saudi government agencies, including the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services. The curriculum focuses on four key areas of urban innovation: smart city governance and geospatial information, intelligent transportation and autonomous driving, the hydrogen economy and energy transition, and intelligent robot technology. Participants will engage in classroom instruction, field visits to locations like Anyang's integrated smart city control center, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's K-City autonomous driving test site, and Ulsan's hydrogen pilot city. A policy-planning workshop is also included, where participants will design a smart city, integrating transportation, logistics, energy, and urban administration, and developing concrete policy proposals for their work.
