Steer, a Norwegian technology company specializing in autonomous systems for heavy industry, has signed agreements with Hermann Wegener GmbH and Hülskens/Ebel to deploy its autonomous haul truck solution
across multiple quarry sites in Germany. The companies operate approximately 15 quarries, with more than half identified as suitable for autonomous operation. The rollout is scheduled to begin in 2026, with further expansion in 2027. Steer's autonomous trucks have accumulated over 40,000 operating hours since 2022, demonstrating their scalability and reliability. The trucks will be fitted to Caterpillar and Komatsu models, with loading operations managed by manned excavators.
