What's Happening?
The World Customs Organization (WCO) has concluded the TENTACLE MENA AML/CTF Capacity Building Initiative, a program aimed at enhancing customs-led responses to money laundering and terrorist financing in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The initiative involved ten customs administrations working alongside financial intelligence units and police agencies. It included a workshop, a live operation, and a joint analytical review, resulting in seizures valued at approximately USD 16.7 million. The program was funded by the U.S. Department of State and co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The TENTACLE MENA initiative highlights the critical role of customs administrations in combating financial crimes. By strengthening the capacity of customs officers to detect and investigate money laundering and terrorist financing, the WCO is enhancing the security of international trade.
