What's Happening?
The Scottish Government has introduced a Mainstreaming Toolkit aimed at integrating equality and human rights into public sector operations. This initiative is part of a broader strategy that includes a new Equality and Human Rights Mainstreaming Strategy
and an Action Plan, fulfilling commitments from the 2023-24 Programme for Government. The Toolkit consolidates over 100 resources to aid public sector organizations in embedding these principles into policy development, programs, and practices. It offers training materials, practical examples, and guidance to sustain and expand equality and human rights practices. Scottish Minister for Equalities, Kaukab Stewart, emphasized the importance of this initiative in addressing persistent inequalities and ensuring that government decisions consider their impact on people. The Action Plan outlines the Scottish Government's actions to lead by example in mainstreaming equality and human rights.
