Farm Credit Mid-America is currently accepting applications for its Customer Scholarships and Farm Credit Mid-America Scholars Program. These initiatives aim to provide financial and educational support to students pursuing careers in agriculture and rural
communities. Over the past decade, the association has awarded more than $2 million in support and plans to distribute up to $125,000 this year. The Customer Scholarships offer $1,500 to children or grandchildren of Farm Credit Mid-America customers attending accredited educational institutions. Meanwhile, the Scholars Program provides $5,000 over two years to rising college sophomores and juniors majoring in agriculture, along with opportunities for leadership development and financial literacy training. Applications for the Customer Scholarships are due by January 15, 2026, and for the Scholars Program by January 31, 2026.
Why It's Important?
These scholarship programs are crucial for fostering the next generation of leaders in agriculture, a vital sector for the U.S. economy and rural communities. By investing in education and professional development, Farm Credit Mid-America is helping to ensure the sustainability and growth of agricultural industries. This support not only benefits individual students but also strengthens the communities they will serve, potentially leading to innovations and improvements in agricultural practices. The financial aid and development opportunities provided by these programs can help alleviate the burden of educational expenses and equip students with the skills needed to address future challenges in agriculture.
What's Next?
As the application deadlines approach, students interested in pursuing careers in agriculture are encouraged to apply for these scholarships. The recipients will be announced later in 2026, and they will begin their journey with financial support and professional development opportunities. Farm Credit Mid-America's continued investment in these programs suggests a long-term commitment to supporting agricultural education and leadership. This could inspire other organizations to implement similar initiatives, further strengthening the agricultural sector and rural communities.
