What's Happening?
Delhi Metro International Ltd (DMIL) has been established to pursue metro contracts globally, leveraging the expertise of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Sanjay Jamuar, a former Indian Railway Traffic Service officer, has been appointed as the CEO.
DMIL aims to capitalize on DMRC's experience in metro planning, development, and operations, having already provided consultancy and construction services for major metro projects in India and abroad. The company has signed a memorandum with BEML to explore international opportunities and undertake projects.
Why It's Important?
The formation of DMIL represents a strategic move to expand India's influence in the global metro rail market. By leveraging DMRC's expertise, DMIL aims to secure international contracts, potentially increasing India's footprint in global infrastructure projects.
