What's Happening?
A new executive course titled 'Luxury Heritage Management: Branding & Archive' is set to launch at Milan's Poli.Design, part of the Politecnico university, in March. This 120-hour program is designed to train
future heritage managers and professionals in the luxury, fashion, jewelry, and lifestyle sectors. The course will cover both theoretical and practical aspects, including branding, archive preservation, design, digitization, and promotion. It aims to equip students with skills in creating, preserving, and enhancing archives, as well as using digital tools and technologies. The program will be overseen by Alba Cappellieri and Alessio de’Navasques, with contributions from guest archivists and curators.
Why It's Important?
The launch of this course reflects the growing interest in fashion archives and the need for skilled professionals in the luxury sector. As secondhand and vintage sales rise, there is a demand for experts who can manage and communicate the heritage of luxury brands. This program could significantly impact the industry by providing trained professionals who can enhance brand storytelling and preservation. It also highlights the importance of integrating modern technologies with traditional archiving methods, potentially leading to innovations in how luxury brands manage their historical assets.
What's Next?
Applications for the course are open until February 6, with only 20 spots available for the first edition starting March 9. The course fee is 4,148 euros per student. As the program progresses, it may influence other educational institutions to develop similar courses, further expanding the field of luxury heritage management. The success of this program could also encourage more brands to invest in their archival practices, recognizing the value of their historical assets.
