What's Happening?
The European Commission has approved a €400 million state aid scheme to support clean technology manufacturing in Greece. This initiative is part of the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA) and aims to boost the production of solar panels, wind turbines, heat
pumps, electrolyzers, and carbon capture usage and storage technologies. The scheme is designed to accelerate Greece's transition towards a net-zero economy by providing direct grants and tax advantages to incentivize domestic production. The aid will be available to companies across Greece until December 31, 2030. Teresa Ribera, Executive Vice-President for Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, emphasized that the scheme will help achieve the goals of the Clean Industrial Deal while minimizing potential competition distortions.
