Keshav Jindal, a 25-year-old Indian-origin man, was rescued after spending three nights stranded in the remote backcountry of Vancouver Island. Jindal went missing on August 3 after becoming separated from a friend while hiking to Mount Albert Edward
in Strathcona Park, British Columbia. Search crews found him on a narrow cliff ledge inside a crevasse on the mountainside. The rescue operation was conducted by an RCMP helicopter, which spotted Jindal on Thursday morning. Rescue manager Paul Berry noted that Jindal had not planned to stay overnight and lacked the necessary equipment for an extended stay in the wilderness. Despite earlier helicopter searches, Jindal was not seen until changing light conditions aided the search efforts. He was found alive and well, and rescuers prepared to lift him to safety by helicopter.
