A new read-only Obsidian plugin, 'Yggdrasil Fixed Tree View,' has been released, providing an alternative method for visualizing vault folder structures. Unlike the default Obsidian Graph View, which relies on wikilinks, this plugin renders the vault's
folder hierarchy as a bottom-rooted trunk-and-branches tree. The visualization is based entirely on the physical location of notes and folders within the vault, rather than wikilinks or frontmatter. Key features include a fixed radial tree layout with physics-based relaxation to prevent overlapping, and overflow clustering that collapses folders with numerous files into a single cluster node once a configurable threshold is met. The plugin also offers a toolbar with 'Display Settings' for adjusting node size, folder-label zoom, attachment visibility, and live physics sliders for repulsion, spring force, center anchor force, and damping. Users can save and re-apply display and physics configurations per tab and filter nodes by name using a live text search. Additionally, a 'Predicted timeline mode' allows users to project the tree forward or backward in time, showing estimated future 'predicted' leaves based on historical creation rates.
