What's Happening?
BGI-Research has published a new spatial transcriptomics method, Stereo-seq V2, which achieves single-cell resolution on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections. This method allows for simultaneous in situ profiling of host and microbial RNAs, overcoming previous limitations in transcriptome analysis due to RNA degradation in FFPE samples. Stereo-seq V2 provides comprehensive gene-body coverage, enabling detailed analysis of tumor biology and infectious disease research.
Why It's Important?
Stereo-seq V2 represents a significant advancement in spatial transcriptomics, offering new possibilities for clinical research and diagnostics. By enabling high-resolution mapping of transcriptomes in FFPE samples, this method enhances the understanding of tumor ecosystems and infectious diseases. It could lead to more precise diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies, benefiting patients with complex conditions and advancing personalized medicine.
