What's Happening?
CMI, in partnership with the Palestine-based Social Developmental Forum (SDF), has launched a three-year initiative aimed at engaging young Palestinians in structured and inclusive dialogue about the future of Palestine. This program, co-funded by the European
Union, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, and Ireland, seeks to strengthen the political agency of youth in peacemaking. The initiative addresses the fragmentation of youth, shrinking civic space, and their exclusion from decision-making processes. In its initial phase, dialogue workshops are being conducted across the West Bank and Gaza, with over 500 young women and men already participating in sessions held in Egypt, the West Bank, and Gaza by June 2026. These workshops provide safe spaces for participants to discuss current political, social, and economic developments, identify key factors shaping life in Palestine, and explore potential political solutions and future scenarios.

This initiative is crucial for fostering stability and promoting a more inclusive future in Palestine. By providing platforms for youth dialogue, it addresses the critical issue of generational exclusion from decision-making, which can lead to disaffection and radicalization. What's Next?
The initiative will continue with participants connecting through secure online and in-person formats, supported by digital consultations. A working group of youth will contribute to policy-oriented papers and engage in intergenerational exchanges with decision-makers at local and national levels, aiming to strengthen trust and communication. The program will culminate in an Innovation Challenge and a national-level online conference to showcase key outputs. CMI will also continue its parallel work on women's participation and inclusive dialogue, further elevating underrepresented voices in peacebuilding. The success of this initiative could serve as a model for youth engagement in other conflict-affected regions, demonstrating the power of dialogue in fostering political agency and contributing to long-term peace.
