Banner Northern Colorado Medical Center and Banner Fort Collins Medical Center have been recognized by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) for their commitment to promoting and supporting breastfeeding. This recognition is part of the Colorado Hospital
Lactation Collaborative, which acknowledges hospitals implementing evidence-based maternity care policies and practices. Banner Northern Colorado Medical Center received the Colorado Hospital Breastfeeding Excellence Platinum Award, while Banner Fort Collins Medical Center earned the Gold Award. These awards are given biennially and are based on the number of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative’s Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding that a hospital has implemented. The initiative aims to increase breastfeeding success and improve maternal and infant health outcomes. Julia Reinink, Banner Health’s chief nursing officer in Northern Colorado, highlighted the dedication of their nurses, lactation consultants, and physicians in providing support to new parents.
