The South Korean Navy's frigate, ROKS Daejeon, has been awarded the top honor at the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise's live-fire gunnery competition. The ROKS Daejeon scored the highest among 13 warships from 10 countries participating in the Naval
Surface Fire Support Rodeo competition held in Hawaii. This marks the first time in 16 years that a South Korean warship has won this competition, with the last win by the King Sejong the Great destroyer in 2010. RIMPAC is a biennial exercise aimed at enhancing cooperation among participating countries to secure sea lines of communication and counter potential security challenges.
