Leaders from 13 counties across the Austin-San Antonio corridor have officially launched the Central Texas Alliance, an initiative aimed at fostering collaboration and presenting a unified voice on critical regional issues. The inaugural event, held at Texas State
University-San Marcos, brought together civic, business, and academic leaders to discuss and prioritize challenges such as housing, energy, water resources, mobility infrastructure, and workforce development. The Alliance, inspired by a book co-authored by former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros, seeks to manage the projected growth of the region, which is expected to add 3 million residents by 2050 to its current population of 5.3 million. This collaborative effort is modeled after successful regional partnerships like the North Texas Commission and the Greater Houston Partnership.
