Six individuals were arrested in Santa Cruz, California, following a high-speed chase involving a stolen 2015 black Mercedes SUV. The incident began on a Saturday around 4:10 p.m. when police responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash and a vehicle driving
recklessly, engaging in dangerous behaviors across the city. Officers located the suspects in a parking lot, but the driver crashed into and disabled a Santa Cruz police patrol vehicle, injuring one officer. A subsequent chase on Highway 1 was called off due to public safety concerns. The vehicle was later spotted again, leading to a second pursuit that involved a spike strip and assistance from the California Highway Patrol. The chase concluded on Highway 17, north of Ocean Street, where two occupants fled on foot into a ravine and were apprehended with the help of a police service dog.
