What's Happening?
The National Weather Service confirmed that two EF1 tornadoes touched down in Southeast Michigan early Wednesday morning. The first tornado began in Barton Hills and traveled 1.71 miles with peak winds of 110 mph, causing damage to neighborhoods and an elementary
school in Ann Arbor. The second tornado briefly touched down in Melvindale, traveling 0.30 miles with peak winds of 95 mph, damaging homes and businesses. Both tornadoes resulted in uprooted trees and snapped light poles, with additional damage from straight-line winds.
