What's Happening?
The U.S. Space Force has awarded K2 Space a $22.9 million contract to conduct flight tests of optical inter-satellite link terminals under the Enterprise Space Terminal (EST) program. The contract, running through 2028, involves terminal procurement,
integration onto K2 satellite buses, and launch. The tests aim to evaluate the performance of laser crosslinks developed for low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations at medium Earth orbit (MEO) and higher. This initiative is part of the Space Force's efforts to enhance its missile warning and tracking architecture.
