What's Happening?
The Atherton Library hosted a Mooncake Sticker Making Workshop, led by designer and former art teacher Jane Li, to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Participants engaged in creating mooncake-inspired stickers using various floral designs and vibrant colors. The workshop aimed to educate attendees about Chinese culture through artistic expression. Despite initial concerns about the simplicity of the activity, Li noted that participants enjoyed the creative process. Community member Margaret Imperial expressed appreciation for the cultural learning experience. The event concluded with the distribution of mooncakes, enhancing the cultural immersion and providing a festive treat.
Why It's Important?
The workshop serves as a cultural bridge, fostering understanding and appreciation of Chinese traditions within the community. By engaging participants in hands-on activities, the event promotes cultural diversity and inclusivity. Such initiatives can strengthen community ties and encourage cross-cultural dialogue, contributing to a more cohesive society. The celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival through art highlights the role of creative expression in cultural education, offering a platform for individuals to explore and connect with different cultural narratives.
