What's Happening?
Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has partnered with Heimdall Power to launch a dynamic line rating (DLR) pilot project in Washington state. The initiative involves installing 75 advanced monitoring devices, known
as 'Neurons,' across 100 miles of transmission lines in five counties. These sensors provide real-time data on transmission line conditions, allowing PSE to optimize grid capacity and improve power delivery to its 1.2 million customers. The project represents one of the largest deployments of DLR sensors in the U.S., aiming to modernize the power grid and enhance resilience against extreme weather while incorporating more renewable energy sources.
