What's Happening?
The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) has completed the Type Approval Certification for two indigenously built totally enclosed lifeboat models, the SHM PN95FA and SHM KISS 700, manufactured by SHM Shipcare Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai. This certification marks
a significant achievement for India's maritime manufacturing sector, showcasing the country's growing capabilities in producing advanced maritime safety appliances. The lifeboats underwent rigorous design appraisal and testing to meet International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) requirements.
