What's Happening?
The Isle of Man's Mountain Road will experience daytime closures next week to facilitate the removal of road racing equipment following the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT races. The infrastructure department has scheduled closures on the northern stretch of the A18 from Ramsey hairpin to the bungalow on Monday and Tuesday, from 09:30 to 16:30 BST. The removal of signs, barriers, and other equipment will precede major roadworks set to begin on 15 September, which include drainage improvements and resurfacing.
Why It's Important?
These closures are crucial for maintaining road safety and infrastructure integrity following major racing events. The removal of equipment ensures the road is clear for regular traffic and prepares the area for upcoming roadworks. The scheduled improvements will enhance drainage and road quality, benefiting local residents and visitors. The Isle of Man's commitment to infrastructure maintenance reflects its dedication to supporting both tourism and local transportation needs.
What's Next?
Following the equipment removal, the Isle of Man will commence a five-week roadwork project between Brandywell and Creg Ny Baa, focusing on drainage and resurfacing. This project aims to improve road conditions and prevent future disruptions. Emergency access will be maintained throughout the works, ensuring minimal impact on local services.
