For UIS, this event not only celebrates student achievements but also strengthens alumni relations, as evidenced by the honorary degree awarded to W. Robert Felker. Such events can enhance the university's reputation and foster a sense of community among graduates, faculty, and alumni. The participation of a large number of students highlights the university's role in providing higher education opportunities and contributing to the workforce in various fields.

Following the commencement, graduates will transition into the workforce or pursue further education. The university will continue to engage with its alumni network, potentially leveraging connections with successful alumni like Felker to provide mentorship and career opportunities for new graduates. The event may also prompt discussions on the university's future initiatives to support student success and alumni engagement.
