What's Happening?
The Christ Child Society of Northern Michigan is organizing a fundraising gala titled 'An Evening of Stars' on July 26 at the Lange Center at the Bay Harbor Yacht Club. This biennial event aims to gather donors, members, and community supporters to raise
funds for various programs benefiting children across Northern Michigan. The gala will feature a live auction led by local auctioneer Wade Leist, a silent auction with items donated by retailers and society members, and a raffle offering artwork by Michigan artist Tim Yanke. Attendees will enjoy a gourmet dinner, an open bar, and entertainment from the Katherine Ryan Jazz Band. The Christ Child Society, a 501(c)(3) ecumenical chapter, serves thousands of children through initiatives such as providing layettes for newborns, back-to-school clothing, holiday toys, food, backpacks for foster care children, and college scholarships. This year, the chapter awarded over $65,000 in scholarships, including those for vocational and trade school students.
Why It's Important?
The gala is crucial for sustaining the Christ Child Society's efforts to support children in need throughout Northern Michigan. By raising funds, the organization can continue its diverse range of programs that address essential needs such as education, clothing, and food security for children. The scholarships provided by the society play a significant role in enabling students to pursue higher education and vocational training, which can have long-term positive impacts on their lives and the community. The event also fosters community engagement and awareness about the challenges faced by children in the region, encouraging more individuals and businesses to contribute to these causes.
What's Next?
Following the gala, the Christ Child Society will likely continue its outreach and support programs, utilizing the funds raised to enhance and expand its services. The success of the event could lead to increased community involvement and potentially inspire similar fundraising efforts in the future. The organization may also explore new initiatives or partnerships to further its mission of supporting children in need. Stakeholders, including local businesses and community leaders, may respond by offering additional support or collaboration opportunities to maximize the impact of the society's programs.
