What's Happening?
Israeli companies Yaturu and Yalla Digital have partnered with France's Firstep Production to launch an extended reality (XR) tourism venture at the Palace of Versailles. The installation, titled 'Light of Liberty,' allows visitors to experience the eighteenth
century through XR headsets, walking among historical figures like Benjamin Franklin and George Washington. This immersive experience combines physical space with interactive storytelling, bringing history to life. The project, developed in six months, includes content creation, game design, and production, and aims to manage the influx of tourists with a sophisticated operational setup.
Why It's Important?
The 'Light of Liberty' installation represents a significant advancement in tourism technology, showcasing the potential of XR to enhance cultural and historical education. By allowing visitors to engage with history in an interactive manner, the project offers a novel way to experience the past. This initiative not only highlights Israeli technological innovation but also strengthens cultural ties between France and the United States, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence. The project could set a precedent for future XR applications in historical sites worldwide, potentially transforming how people engage with history.
